Freedom begins with the freeing of the mind & soul...

Tendai MWARI,

The birth of the Alkebu-Lan Revivalist Movement in January 1987 was signalled by the opening of our Shumira (then called "Fellowship") -  Every first Sunday of the month.

SHUMIRA - spoken in the Shona Language (mostly spoken in Zimbabwe) means "Worship". Through Shumira our aim is to re-institutionalise Afrikan-Spirituality and Afrikan Centred modes of worship and ritual among the Afrikan Community; as well as to provide a focal point for culturally appropriate community development and Nation Building.

Shumira is the process through which we ritualise our harmony with MWARI Nyakusika (The Creator, Universal Life Force, All in All), Mudzimu Mukuru (Our Great Ancestors), and ZWIBATO (The Elements), the forces of Mother Nature.

We invite you to join us as we explore Afrikan Spirituality in practice and build a foundation for Afrikan Culture as it informs our political, economic & social development.

Freedom begins with the freeing of the mind & soul...

Tendai MWARI!
